Corderman & Company recently completed a new build-out for Wonder at 50 Station Landing in Medford, MA, delivering a 3,600 SF restaurant space defined by accessibility, convenience, and a variety of quality cuisine from 15+ iconic restaurants.

Wonder, with its revolutionary digital food hall concept, saw rapid growth after being founded in 2018. The startup currently has over 100 locations throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. With a push for several new locations in the Greater Boston area, Wonder engaged Corderman & Company to support their expansion.

The new Wonder location in Medford caters extensively to take-out, with large shelves for pick-up orders as well as an open foyer providing room for kiosk lines and those waiting for their food. Though much of the additional square footage is dedicated to the kitchen, there is a small area in the front that offers booth and bar-style seating for customers seeking to dine in.

The back-of-house consists of a sizable commercial kitchen filled with equipment and systems that integrate seamlessly with the location’s mobile and kiosk ordering demands. In an increasingly digital world and with a business model that relies heavily on technology, these systems are essential to maintaining efficient operations and convenience.

Playful signage and colorful murals adorn the interior walls of the establishment, tapping into local culture, generating a positive atmosphere, and bringing the Wonder brand to life. Meanwhile, larger, illuminated storefront signs act as beacons to anyone passing by on Revere Beach Parkway craving a bite of pizza, wings, seafood, tacos, Italian, poke, or something else entirely!

Corderman Superintendent, John Sharpe, reflected on his experience supporting the buildout of Wonder and collaborating with the many trade and industry partners involved: “Building this Wonder location was a great opportunity to bring our core beliefs into a fast-evolving environment. Throughout the project, our focus on integrity and craftsmanship guided every phase. Collaboration across teams was essential and reinforced our belief that strong partnerships drive successful outcomes. Seeing the project come together at the end really speaks to Corderman’s commitment to teamwork and shows how it plays a critical role in delivering spaces that are both functional and inspiring.”

An experienced and adept project team was integral to the noteworthy buildout. John Sharpe was joined by Corderman & Company Laborer, Dan Solari, on site each day, supporting daily operations, quality control, and safety. Corderman Senior Project Manager, Kevin Hegarty, and Assistant Project Manager, Cam Christenson, successfully managed the scheduling and coordination of trade partners, permitting, procurement, and project controls and logs. Cadman Corbett and Alejandra Richardi, Corderman & Company’s Director of Estimating and Estimator respectively, supported preconstruction pricing, take-offs, and scope development, and bid evaluation. Furthermore, extensive and consistent communication with Wonder, HFA Architecture & Engineering, Cumming Group, and each trade partner engaged in the project lent to a seamless and highly coordinated construction process from preconstruction to the final 1%.

Wonder adds to a rapidly growing list of Corderman-built restaurant spaces, which is currently comprised of the following notable names: Yoki; Craft Food Halls; South Station Marketplace; Oishii; The Ritz-Carlton, Boston Avery Bar; Artisan Bistro; Daikanyama; and more.

Nearly a month in, Wonder has undoubtedly established itself in the area. Following a grand opening ceremony earlier this month, business is underway and the food scene in Medford now boasts a creative newcomer, changing the rules of take-out and making great food more accessible one order at a time.
